Day 175: The Big Apple

As most of the people who read this know, I’m originally from New York State, but now I live in Ontario.  But what you may not have known is that I now live closer to The Big Apple.  It’s true.  In Buffalo I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 hours from the big apple, but now I’m only a few short exits from the REAL Big Apple.  I’m referring, of course, to The Big Apple, a giant fibreglass apple on the side of Highway 401 in Colborne, Ontario.  We went to the Bowmanville Zoo today as a treat, and on the way off we stopped at that large tourist attraction/gift shop/apple pie bakery known as The Big Apple.  And that’s where I got this hat.  If you’re going to live so close to The Big Apple, you have to show the attitude right?
The hat is a black poly/cotton blend, with an adjustable velcro strap that allows the end to be tucked in.  The front has the words “Big Apple” and the smiling cartoon apple mascot of The Big Apple.
It really was a great day.  The Bowmanville Zoo is fun, and allows you to get really close to the animals.  You can even feed them, if you can stop your 18 month old from shoving all the dried corn in her own mouth first!  And it was topped off by an apple flavored snow cone, apple juice and a very BIG apple.
