Day 213: Ohio State “Woody Hayes” Hat

I got this hat during my visit to the OSU campus in my sophomore year in university.  I REALLY had a good time that weekend.  It was halloween weekend and a home football game, and by the end of the weekend I really wanted to transfer.  Stop #1 was to the bookstore to buy this little beauty… at the time a must for OSU students and faithful.  The “Woody Hayes” hat.  It was everywhere on campus, a copy of the hats worn by legendary Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes.  He didn’t actually just have ONE hat, but this was his general style.  Always black, always with the scarlet O.

I got the fitted version, which in retrospect may have been a mistake, because it no longer fits.  My head, it seems, has grown.  The hat is black, and I imagine cotton, but it’s hard to tell. The front has the Ohio State O logo in white felt and scarlet embroidery.
I actually still like this hat.  If I went back to Columbus today, I would get a new one for sure.
